How the CPS test works

Pick a test length, then click inside the box as fast as you can. The timer starts with your very first click, so there is no rush to get ready. Every press of the left mouse button is recorded with a high-resolution timestamp, and when time runs out your score is simply the number of clicks divided by the number of seconds.

After each round you also see your best single second, the shortest gap between two clicks and how steady your rhythm was. The chart shows whether you started strong and slowed down or kept the same pace all the way through.

What is a good CPS score?

Most people click 5 to 7 times per second with a normal technique. Competitive players who practise special clicking styles regularly reach double digits. Here is how to read your result:

CPSLevelWhat it means
0–4Warming upNormal for a first try or a touchpad.
4–6AverageWhere most people land with a regular click.
6–8Quick fingersFaster than most casual players.
8–10FastA strong result with a normal clicking style.
10–12Very fastUsually needs jitter clicking.
12–15EliteTypical for well-practised butterfly clickers.
15+InhumanDrag clicking — or a mouse that double clicks.

How to click faster

Whatever you choose, a mouse with light, crisp switches and a comfortable grip makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

Suspiciously high score?

If your result jumps far above your usual level, check the “fastest gap” number. Gaps shorter than about 25 milliseconds are hard to produce with a finger and often mean the switch inside your mouse is wearing out and registering one click as two. Check it with the double click test.

Frequently asked questions

What does CPS mean?

CPS stands for clicks per second. It is the number of mouse clicks you make divided by the length of the test. If you click 50 times in a 5 second test, your score is 10 CPS.

How many clicks is a good score in 1 seconds?

Around 6 clicks (6 CPS) is a typical result for 1 seconds. Reaching 10 clicks means 10 CPS, which is fast, and more than 12 clicks puts you in elite territory.

Why is my score different on other CPS test sites?

Sites count differently. Some start the timer when the page opens or round results up. This test starts at your first click, counts only the primary button and uses high-resolution timestamps from the browser, so the result reflects your real speed.

Do right clicks count?

No. Only the left (primary) mouse button counts, the same way a normal click works in games. On phones and tablets every tap counts as one click.

Does the CPS test work on a phone?

Yes. Tap the click area as fast as you can. Tapping is usually slower than clicking a good gaming mouse, so compare phone scores only with other phone scores.

Is my result saved?

Your personal best for each test length is saved in your own browser, so you can try to beat it next time. Nothing is sent to our servers.
